2009 chairs conference

 

Riverbank Park Plaza, Wednesday 28 January 2009, from 09:30 to 16:00.

The 2009 chairs conference is an Appointments Commission event organised in partnership with the Department of Health, the Strategic Health Authorities, the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, Monitor and the NHS Confederation. The conference will provide an invaluable opportunity for chairs to meet, hear from and participate in discussion with key leaders in heath.

This conference is open to chairs of NHS organisations. If you cannot attend you can nominate your vice-chair, or another appropriate representative.

Who will you hear from?

The day will be chaired by Anne Watts CBE, Chair, The Appointments Commission and Dame Yve Buckland, Chair, NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement.

This is a unique opportunity to hear from, and question, the following speakers:

  • Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson, Secretary of State for Health
  • David Nicholson, Chief Executive of the NHS in England
  • Charles Howeson, Chair, First Great Western
  • Paul Thomas, Group Director of Environmental Health, Safety and Quality, British Nuclear Fuel
  • Jonathon Montgomery and Gareth Cruddace from Hampshire PCT and Jim Martin and Caroline Shaw from The Christie NHS Foundation Trust will discuss the importance of the relationship between chairs and chief executives and examine some of the key issues
  • Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Executive, The Appointments Commission
  • Nigel Edwards, Director of Policy, NHS Confederation
